Angelo State University’s Multicultural Center will host an Asian-Pacific Islander Heritage Celebration is this Tuesday in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

The celebration will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lobby of the University Center and is open free to the public. Activities will focus on Japanese culture, including traditional foods, music and pastimes, such as origami paper crafting and decorating paper lanterns. Informational posters on Japanese culture will also be on display.

In 1990, the U.S. Congress proclaimed May as Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The ASU celebration is taking place in late April so as to not interfere with students’ preparation for spring semester final exams and graduation ceremonies. For more information, call the ASU Multicultural Center at 325-942-2729.
